Buttery, tender, and slightly sweet, this Scottish shortbread is made using only 3 simple ingredients: butter, flour, and sugar. The recipe was given to us by a dear friend with many years of home baked goodness to share. She warned us about these addictive shortbread squares saying they were quite possibly the best she'd ever eaten. Take our word for it, she was right! Rich and delicate they practically melt in your mouth. We top them with a light dusting of powdered sugar. Sold as a dozen generous sized shortbread squares.
Fun Fact: Shortbread history goes back to at least the 12th century, with the first printed recipe in Scotland in 1736. Originally known as "biscuit bread" they were defended by early Scottish bakers who fought to prevent them from being classified as a biscuit to avoid paying a government tax on biscuits. January 6th is National Shortbread Day.
